The Red Standard Code

The Red Standard Code gives order a legal face and ambition a disciplined vocabulary. It binds musters, worksites, punishments, requisitions, emergency commands, road closures, and public service into one doctrine of managed necessity. Soldiers trust its clarity because confusion has killed whole companies. Labourers fear its clauses because a clear command can still take a hand, a cart, a roof beam, or a season of winter hours. The Code is old enough to have saved cities and cruel enough to outlive the emergency that summoned it.
