Orik Fen commands the Flintwardens like a man listening to the ground. He trusts hoof-cuts, smoke drift, grass silence, and the mood of a tired horse more than banners seen from a hall door. His patience has saved villages and angered chiefs who wanted louder warnings after ignoring quiet ones. Orik's scouts ride with wet cloaks, cold food, and the knowledge that prevention earns fewer songs than rescue. His private fear is that Keldrun loves the glorious ride so much it forgets the dull discipline that keeps children from needing one.
