Erynd Vale

Erynd Vale walked the Starfall Archives like a healer moving through a battlefield after the shouting has stopped. He preserved broken lineages, treaty songs, medical lore, and the names of children carried out beneath burning roofs. His hands smelled of ink, bitter herbs, and lamp oil. Courts feared him because he could make wounds speak in the language of diplomacy, forcing proud houses to negotiate around pain they preferred to bury. Erynd taught that peace begins when harm is named clearly enough that neither side can dress itself entirely in innocence. In later wars his students followed supply carts and surgeon wagons, carrying bandages, witness tablets, and bitter tinctures into camps where diplomacy had failed and only the injured still told the truth plainly.
