Elian of Vaelorn

Elian of Vaelorn is the haven-realm’s appointed witness to the Company, an archer, tide-reader, and keeper of retreat songs who knows what is lost when a people survive by withdrawing. He does not join merely to fight; he joins to ensure the burden does not become another excuse for beautiful powers to abandon uglier lands. Vaelorn sailors call him Tidemark because he remembers where each retreat began.
