Torvan Hailmark

Torvan Hailmark commands the Rimewardens with scout silence and gaoler patience. He knows which passes rescue travellers, which slopes hide avalanche thunder, and which white roads can make an army disappear one sled at a time. Torvan's cloak is usually rimed at the hem; his gloves smell of leather, lamp oil, and cold iron. He is loyal to Nhalgrin's future more than any clan's comfort, which makes him useful, feared, and difficult to restrain. His moral wound is plain: a road closed in time may save thousands, but it always condemns someone on the wrong side.
