The Sundering of Varhold

The Sundering of Varhold is the old fire at the heart of every Marcher argument. Later generations describe battle, betrayal, plague fear, legal catastrophe, and kin-slaying in different measures, depending on which hall taught them the tale. What remains certain is ruin: the high seat broken, charter copies scattered, seals melted, courts emptied, and northern inheritance turned into a wound with witnesses on every side. The event matters because every restoration must answer it. To rebuild Varhold without understanding the Sundering would be to stack clean stone over the same buried hunger.
