A claimant demanded emergency authority before the White Archive could prove the blood, seal, and witness of his right. The High Stewardship denied him while soldiers waited outside and the city trembled between hunger and civil war. Some still call the decision treason dressed as caution. Others call it the day Caerdun proved that need, lineage, and applause could not force open the realm's deepest granaries without answer. The old argument has never truly ended; it merely changes names whenever power grows impatient.
