The Seven-Gate Dawn

Lore

The Seven-Gate Dawn was the capital siege where Caerdun’s record-kingdom, Keldrun’s horse halls, Drazakar’s dread engines, and Surayan’s sun-spear hosts collided at the edge of extinction.

The Gate That Broke Like Law

The first gate did not simply fall. It gave a sound like a judgement being overturned. Drazakar’s engines came through ash clouds, dragged by crews who had forgotten every god except fear. Surayan spear-hosts moved in the burning outer fields where water carts had become prizes. Caerdun counted every wall, every wounded mason, every lamp left burning in the archives below. The city smelled of hot stone, horse blood, boiled leather, cedar smoke, and ink spilled by scribes writing names faster than surgeons could save them.

Horse Banners at the Edge

Keldrun’s arrival became legend because it looked impossible from the walls: horse banners cutting through siege haze, horns ragged from cold mouths, riders spending themselves against a darkness that had already entered the gate. Eowara Shieldlark’s defiance is remembered not as clean triumph but as the moment dread learned it could be answered by someone wounded, forbidden, and furious. When dawn finally held, Caerdun had survived, but survival had teeth marks. The repaired gate still contains black iron from the breach so nobody mistakes restoration for innocence.

Cost

The victory saves a civilisation while proving that even lawful endurance may depend on desperate allies and people whom law once underestimated.
