The Broken Antler Banner rises when Varric forces march for restoration rather than another local feud. Its split emblem is stark against winter air, honouring both the old high seat and the wound that made simple kingship impossible. The cloth is patched with darker panels from towns that paid for the last road muster in sons instead of coin. Some cheer when it lifts. Others look away, because a beautiful banner can cover too many graves if men are eager enough to call memory destiny. Under it, hope and suspicion march side by side. Its rites are spare: the cloth is lifted only after witnesses name the road, keep, or claimant it will serve, and every captain beneath it must swear that the march is more than private revenge.
