Seren Auldris

Seren Auldris belongs to the Eastwatch Stair more than to any hall in Asterhold. Rain has roughened her voice, and frontier smoke seems to cling to her cloak even indoors. Her reports are famous for their cruelty of brevity: weather, roads, dead, stores, required action. She has little patience for courtly courage spoken beside warm braziers. On the Stair she is loved because she sends warnings before pride can delay them, and feared because she will spend a bridge, a road, or a company if the beacon chain demands it. Seren does not confuse severity with virtue, but she knows the border gives little reward for gentler mistakes.
