Orvek Bram commands the Emberwardens posted through Dovarhold and the Sevenfold Stair. Gate crews respect him; merchants resent him; both know he would halt a caravan rather than risk a spark in the wrong gallery. His coat smells of smoke, rain-damp wool, bronze oil, and stone dust. Orvek believes a hall survives by closing early and apologising later. His burden is moral as much as tactical: every closure may prevent catastrophe or trap someone just beyond the safe side of a gate.
