Maelric Merrowdane

Maelric Merrowdane speaks of unity with a voice trained among ruined charters and cold halls. He looks the part of restoration: grey mantle, careful hands, old blood, a mind full of clauses, roads, marriages, and grievances. Yet the Marches do not kneel to appearance. His hardest task is not convincing nobles that he has a claim; it is convincing road towns that a high seat will mend bridges before demanding sons. Maelric's promise is order. His danger is believing history owes him obedience before he has paid its living price.
