Lore

Falgin Deepmark is known by the maps he refuses to draw for anyone outside his crew. He hears bad stone before it speaks and can tell whether a tunnel was cut by hunger, craft, greed, or fear. Dovarim values him because the mountain is not a backdrop to him; it is an argument with pressure, old water, sleeping fractures, and the memory of every careless pick. On campaign, Falgin makes the battlefield larger for his allies and smaller for those hunting them. A flank becomes a service shaft. A retreat becomes a forgotten vein road. A proud enemy advance becomes a lesson in ceilings. He smells of lamp oil, mineral dust, damp rope, chalk, and cold sweat from places where one wrong whisper can bring down a hall. Falgin's secrecy is not vanity. It is the discipline of a man who knows knowledge can collapse as much as stone.
