Auran Oathgrave

Auran Oathgrave is not forgiven simply because he finally obeys. The old host behind him carries the silence of roads where promises went unpaid too long, and every mile seems to remember the sound of men who died waiting for a rightful order. Caerdun understands the terror of him as witness: an oath does not rot merely because the hand that swore it is bone. The Varric Marches understand him as a colder lesson, for broken kingdoms are crowded with claimants who speak of restoration while the dead know what was abandoned. Auran fights for the living without the comfort of calling it mercy. His honour is the last usable shape left to a ruined king, smelling of grave earth, old rain, rusted mail, and watchfires burning beside empty roads.
