Caedun

Caedun is the regnal name taken by Rovan of the Marches when the broken northern roads begin answering to a single lawful banner again. The name is deliberately heavier than the man, a promise that restoration belongs to the realm rather than to the hunger of a claimant. Caerdun hears in it the hard music of public oath, of gates, records, and authority that must stand inspection after the cheering stops. The Varric Marches hear something more dangerous: the dream of unity returning through towns that have learned to distrust every centre. Caedun rides with charter black, rain slate, antler white, and beacon red around him. He remembers exile well enough to distrust triumph, and that memory may be the only crown not yet broken.
